Shot by Raimond Wouda, “School Teens” is the third and final chapter of the Men's Spring-Summer 2019 campaign. This chapter examines an element that is fundamental to the transition from boyhood into adulthood: the formative communication between teenagers that arises in group situations.
THE CAMPAIGN: SCHOOL TEENS
A contemporary take on the “schuttersstukken” of the Dutch Baroque, the images were photographed around schools in Los Angeles and observe the interactive culture specific to our teenage years: the desire to belong, contrasted by the need for individuality. In constant evolution with the times, this age-particular tension between uniformity and diversity paves the way for a man's future understanding of his own identity, wardrobe, and what that means.
The young students photographed in “School Teens” wear brightly colored t-shirts as a nod to the Spring-Summer 2019 Show where Virgil Abloh invited 1500 guests to wear t-shirts to form the spectrum of a rainbow.
